How to Blur Image in Paint

By: ChangeImageTo.com Team ·

Windows Paint is a basic image editor with limited blur capabilities. Here's what Paint offers and better alternatives for blurring images.

Blur options in Paint

Note: Traditional Windows Paint doesn't have built-in blur filters. However, Paint 3D (Windows 10/11) offers some blur effects:

  1. Open Paint 3D: Press Windows key, type "Paint 3D", and press Enter.
  2. Open your image: Menu → Open or press Ctrl+O.
  3. Click on Effects in the toolbar.
  4. Select Blur or Motion Blur from the effects panel.
  5. Adjust the blur intensity using the slider.
  6. Click Done to apply.
  7. Save your image: Menu → Save As.

Limitation: Paint 3D's blur applies to the entire image, not just the background.

Free alternative for better results

For professional background blur, use our free Blur Background tool:

  2. Select blur intensity (Light, Medium, Strong, or Max).
  3. Download your image with a professionally blurred background.

This tool uses AI to automatically detect and blur only the background while keeping your subject sharp. Much better than Paint's basic blur options.
